A Ministry of the Episcopal Diocese of Texas

The Rt. Rev. Don Wimberly, D.D. Bishop

Pictured at right, are Mark Davis, left, executive director of Gleanings From the Harvest for Galveston, Jeff Antonelli, Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 124; Bear Cub Nick Dreps of Pack 120; and Scout Sean Moran of Troop 124. During the month of October Boy Scouts took part in the “Good Turn for America” program, going door to door to collect food for Gleanings.

Below, Galveston Boy Scouts assist with the distribution of more than 10,000 pounds of potatoes to 100 plus households in a little more than two hours time on Saturday, Oct. 16. The potatoes were provided by the Society of St. Andrews called Gleaning the fields to feed the hungry, and they were trucked in by a trucking ministry to be distributed by Gleanings From the Harvest for Galveston.

Gleanings from the Harvest Food Bank

Under the leadership of Mark Davis and the late Pastor Bill Ritter, with outstanding support from the community, Gleanings from the Harvest has grown from a “tiny seedling” in a few people’s heart, to a viable organization, prepared to assist Galveston agencies in meeting the needs of those who are hungry. Organizational meetings have been going on for some time now. The first meeting of the new board met on Jan. 22 at William Temple Episcopal Center. The community, faith-based organization has recently moved it’s offices from William Temple Episcopal Center to its warehouse site at 53rd and Broadway. For more information contact Mark Davis, executive director at (409) 744-4384 or visit their web-site at www.gfthgalveston.com . Their fax number is (409) 744-4383.
